about me
I like to tell people that I was planted in southwestern Pennsylvania and sprouted in Ohio's Cuyahoga Valley, where I grew up and am currently based. I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio State University while also majoring in political science, with a specialization in inequality and justice. This fall, I will begin pursuing an MFA in Literary Reportage at New York University.
While writing is my primary craft, I am also a photographer, amateur data explorer, and, as a friend and former colleague once described me, a "public records maven." I'm currently most eager to hone my audio reporting and production skills. Friends and Columbus writers also know me as a poet, and others still know me as a casual hiker, serious coffee enthusiast, erstwhile jazz trumpeter, and obsessive dog owner.
on AI:
I am resolutely opposed to the use of AI in any stage of writing, editing, or fact-checking. I believe journalism and storytelling are essentially human pursuits.
